This is a beautiful rendition of the Atmasiddhi Shastra of Shrimad Rajacandra. Rajacandra, a Jain seeker influenced by Acarya Kundakunda, lived in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Exceptionally gifted and deeply spiritual, he was a layman who explored the realms of higher consciousness in his lifetime.

He was a fine spiritual poet and despite his humility, he had a large no. of disciples. One of whom, Saubhagbhai of Sayla, asked him to explain the essence of the path of liberation in simple Gujarati. So Rajacandra composed the Atmasiddhi, a beautiful poem explaining in extremely simple words the moksha marga as preached by the Tirthankaras.

This edition has a lovely poetic rendition of the Gujarati verses in Hindi, as well as a beautiful, deeply insightful English translation and gloss.

The book has been lovingly produced and is very low priced.

A marvellous spiritual work, deserving to be read by any seeker of liberation, irrespective of religion and ethnicity.

We are proud to sell it from our bookstore and by post.

Shvetambara Jains have recited 9 special recitations for centuries. For the first time, these have been translated in English, keenly analysed and studied with respect to historical background, traditional beliefs and their scriptural basis. In addition to the sacred recitations themselves, concomitant mantras and yantras have been presented and examined.

The author Vinod Kapashi has painstakingly examined each chanda of each verse of the 9 stotras and has presented them with appropriate metrical analysis and historical perspectives. He has engaged with traditional beliefs associated with the 9 sacred recitations.

The 9 recitations examined are as follows:

1. Namaskara Mantra

2. Uvasaggaharam Stotra

3. Santikaram Stotra

4. Tijayapahutta Stotra

5. Namiuna Stotra

6. Ajita-Shanti Stavana

7. Bhaktamara Stotra

8. Kalyana Mandira Stotra

9. Brhat Shanti Stotra

The book presents scriptural, traditional as well as subaltern perspectives of Jainism in practise and should be of interest to those of the Jain faith, scholars, Indologists and social historians.

All 9 recitations have been printed in Devanagari and Roman with diacritical marks. There are bibliographies of primary and secondary sources as well as a Glossary of Terms.

This study of Jain recitations has been brilliantly edited

by Signe Kirde.
